PRE-PURCHASE EXAMS

Pre-Purchase Exams at Burwash Equine Services may look a little bit different, but that’s because they are a comprehensive look at the horse that you are wanting to purchase. We take a fine tooth comb to the horse from nose to tail and have a deep look at everything in between. After discussing the exam findings with the purchaser, we can use a variety of imaging options from x-ray to ultrasound to endoscopy as additional screening tools. You’ll also have the option of integrating the Equinosis Q wireless inertial motion sensors into the lameness portion of the exam. These sensors provide valuable objective data regarding the horse’s movement that we us to augment what we are seeing visually, allowing us to better assess the degree of risk that comes along with buying that horse. We will also discuss whether or not you would like a coggins test, drug testing, or any other screening bloodwork at the time of the pre-purchase exam. Following completion of the exam, you will receive a detailed report of our findings. We like to think of these exams as risks assessments rather than a true pass/fail so that you can make an informed decision about your purchase.
